What could you not live without?
In terms of people, my daughter. She has been my inspiration to better myself, make better decisions and to demonstrate what is possible in this world – with a lot of hard work. In addition, she is the reason I came up with the idea of SupportPay. SupportPay helps parents manage child support and share expenses. We have taken a very complex and conflict ridden process and provided a standard system that provides transparency to both parents while reducing the conflict that occurs. Now parents can spend less time managing child support and more time raising happy, healthy children.
Do you have a favorite invention?
The pen. In a world of such advanced technology and living in the heart of Silicon Valley this may be a surprising answer. However, I still take a ton of notes and write everything down on a piece of paper - especially if I want to remember it. The pen enables me to take notes, write down thoughts, create to do lists, draw sketches or simply write a note to put in my daughter’s lunch telling her I love her. Nothing is as powerful as the all mighty pen.
How do you see technology making family life easier in the future?
As family life has vastly changed over the past few decades the advancement of technology has yet to really focus on supporting these new family relationships and dynamics. By using technology to leverage the pieces where family members do not need to interact directly, such as reminders, notifications, tracking, history and reporting family members can now take the time saved by using these tools and leverage that time to continue to build stronger personal relationships.
What's your favorite place in the Bay Area?
Cavallo Point which is located right on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge. It is so peaceful and feels like it’s so far away from the grind of the city yet so close that it’s easy to visit. The grounds are beautiful and the food is amazing!
If you had an unexpected day off, how would you spend it?
Running a startup is a crazy adventure, with the number one thing that every entrepreneur faces, too much to do and not enough time to do it. In my life I add to this complexity the fact that I am a single mother. If I had a day off I would probably spend it getting a massage, relaxing and catching up on sleep!
